Ron passed away in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of significant contributions to landscape architecture, environmental planning, and engineering. His work continues to impact the industry, with many of his projects standing as lasting landmarks across Canada and beyond. His vision, leadership, and dedication will be remembered by colleagues, clients, and all who had the privilege of working with him.
Ron held a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John's College, majoring in Chemistry, Microbiology, and Earth Sciences, as well as an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in marketing and finance. He earned his Masters of Arts in Resource Planning from the University of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with a thesis on biophysical classification for water and land use planning, contributing to a $25 million Federal/Provincial mapping program in the 1970s. Ron became a professional member of the organization governing CSA environmental site assessments in the 90s.
After advising senior politicians in Manitoba, he founded his own consulting firm, which grew to become Canada's largest landscape architectural-based environmental, town planning, and civil engineering consulting firm, with six offices across the country. Notable projects included the twinning of the Trans Canada Highway through Banff National Park and the $350 million Kananaskis Country development.
Ron served as a consultant for the Alberta Minister of Environment and chaired the committee for the revised 1992 environmental impact assessment guidelines. In 1997, while chief scientist for a $900 million oil project in Russia, his credentials were accepted by the Moscow Central Committee. He also led the design and construction of South America's largest water theme park.
Ron focused on his landscape architectural design/build company, SCOPE Projects Inc., founded and headquartered in Bragg Creek, Alberta, known for creating bacteria-driven water features on golf courses and commercial developments. As an administrative environmental law judge and Vice Chair of the Environmental Appeals Board from 1999-2012, Ron oversaw Water Resources and Environment Protection Acts and served as an expert witness for various boards and commissions, including the US Federal Power Commission.

A member of SCOPE Projects since 2006, Adam has a Landscape Architectural Technology Diploma from NAIT and is a member of the (AALA) Technologist level. With 15 yearsโ experience in planning and construction, he has knowledge in a wide range of disciplines within the landscape industry. His portfolio is extensive including, large scale subdivision planning, commercial construction drawing packages, complex drainage solutions, and a variety of other specialized landscape projects. He has a thorough resume with involvement in design and project management across Alberta and BC. His construction experience includes, golf course features, engineered projects, custom water features, as well as implementation of numerous rural and high end residential master plan developments.
